Pastor

Dr. Steven Leatherwood has been the pastor of First Baptist Church since August, 1991. He received the Bachelor of Arts degree from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama; the Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas; and the Doctor of Ministry degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Dr. Leatherwood has served on numerous committees in the Dallas Baptist Association, and he currently serves on the administrative committee.

Brother Steve is chaplain to the Rowlett Fire Department and the Rowlett Police Department and the Rowlett High School football team.

Minister of Music

John Whitlow has been Minister of Music at First Baptist Church since Februrary, 1998. John received the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas in 1984.

John directed junior high and senior high bands for thirteen years and currently owns Rowlett Piano Studio.

Minister of Education

Gail Leatherwood has been Minister of Education at First Baptist Church since July, 1998. Gail received the Bachelor of Arts degree from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama and has done graduate work at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Gail was a writer for the Baptist Sunday School Board and Lifeway Christian Resources from 1985 to 2002.
